The police always call while I'm adjusting my wolf

Good afternoon. I'm surprised you were able to contact me directly.
Commander. The Mayor has declared an emergency. This gives me rather broad temporary powers.
We have traced two A.I.'s to your location that are relevant to a police investigation. I would like them turned over to my custody.
I'm sorry. Both have knowledge of an asset that can't be made public.
Speak to Doctor Bowman. He designed the brains. He will know how to secure the knowledge against unauthorized access.
Doctor Bowman IS the knowledge I'm supposed to protect! Does everyone know the secret has been blown except me?

The secret's not out. I already know Doctor Bowman. Let me take the helmet off.
Oh, man. I remember you.
Figured you might. I have a face now that people don't forget.
It's ruined me for undercover work. Would you believe even when I'm wearing a false nose, glasses and a mustache, people still recognize me?

You're looking… better. Can you see me?
I can. Doctor Bowman is a rage driven psychopath. He's also a genius who does work no one else can.
Do you see him as human?
Of course he's human. Do you think a chimp could create a neural interface like this?
One of our biggest fears was the robots' loyalty might shift when they found out Doctor Bowman wasn't human. He was two steps ahead of us the whole time.
I hope you're right, because he might be four steps ahead of us and we're just not seeing it yet.

How long has it been since you were here? Fifteen years?
Eighteen. I hope I've explained enough for us to work together.
The two A.I.'s you have are generating intense interest in their whereabouts. They are evidence in a police investigation. Keeping them will compromise the secrecy of your base. It would be in everyone's best interest to turn them over to my custody.
Commander! Doctor Bowman is doing something to the wolf!
Son of a hula hoop! Babies and geniuses! You can't take your eyes off them for a second!

What are you doing?
Changing her security settings. Are you being distracted? We just talked about this.
Speaking of distractions, leave me alone for ten minutes, Okay? I'm old and befuddled and I don't want to mess this up because you're bugging me.
Commander, are you in control over there?
I'm mostly in control. With Doctor Bowman, that's as good as it gets.

The bad thing about a brain is it's inside a skull. Makes it hard to do adjustments.
If you're designing something new, like hands, you need more robust neural pathways. Then it's easy to add an access point between the ulna and radius.
The hard part was giving you a proper ulna and radius in the first place. Bear D.N.A. probably made you clumsy as a puppy, but I think you'll agree that having wrists when you grew up was worth it.

Now what?
Doctor Bowman is working on a brain. If I distract him, it would be bad. If I go in there, he'll stop working and that would also be bad.
I'm going to give Doctor Bowman his ten minutes. Anything I do at this point will only make things worse. Anything!
Many people would charge in anyway.
Oh, the urge to do something during an emergency is very strong. It takes training and discipline to do nothing.

The program's ready. Three. Two. One. Flash. We're done. Wake up.
[!1.2]GAHHH! PERMISSION!
You wanted your security upgraded. What would be the point of asking for something I know you're going to agree to?
Okay, I'm not going to get upset because you really don't know why I'm upset.
Everything I did was logical. One day I'll understand why that makes me the one who's nuts.

As a prototype A.I., you have to have an emergency shutdown to go out in public. I took you off the default settings. A new remote is being fabricated for the commander. He's a bit thick, but his heart's in the right place.
This remote won't work if the thumbprint isn't recognized. You'll wake up 30 minutes after the remote is used if no other action is taken. You'll respond to the shutdown signal only five times. Then you'll have to come back to one of our labs for a new remote.
Also, the remote will inform us when it's used and by whom. It's amazing how much more responsible people are when they know they'll be held accountable for their actions.

Are you supposed to be this close to me?
I disabled the shock collar. Red lights. Let me turn it back on.
Green lights now. You'll have to take my word for it. We redesigned your eyes. Light sensitive cells on top and you've got a fovea. Stole some of your color vision for that.
Any chance I could get a copy of your design notes?
Sorry. Trade secrets. Besides, you're supposed to be user friendly enough to operate yourself without a vendor's manual.

Dogs see different. Here's the article How dogs see in the magazine Science and Life
Fovea centralis – A small depression in the centre of the yellow spot of the retina, composed entirely of cones, responsible for concentration and distinguishing details, forming about half of the visual signal of the entire eye. It is absent in canines, but this does not affect visual acuity.
