I'm supposed to follow the rules. Everyone else here is naked. There's no reason to feel self-conscious.
Congratulations! You did it! Oh. Your fur is really soft. It shouldn't be. There should be guard hairs, and it should be much rougher.
Al, come feel how soft her fur is.
I was wrong. There is a reason to feel self-conscious.

Clothes are a crutch. An extra layer to project an image. Glamorous. Reserved. Businesslike. Extravagant.
Here you can only be who you are. We accept you. We're comfortable with who you are.
The question is, are you comfortable with who you are?
Not yet, but
I think I'm getting closer.

There is a whirlpool function.
Water agitation
by cannonball
is more fun.

Do you really change who you are every week?
Absolutely. I've been doing it for about five years now.
We have a tendency
for confirmation bias. By frequently changing my point of view, I see more than one side of the story.
Which didn't make you any more tolerable that week you were a Nigerian prince.
She did give all the money back.
You just didn't like hearing that under some circumstances, crime is a logical economic choice.

What I want to do is lay down a foundation for a group mind that people can join and leave voluntarily. The future workplace could be a gestalt where people plug in when they're on the job and unplug after.
A lot of privacy issues need to be resolved.
It takes the problem of group think to a whole new level.
There's also the issue of toxic employees. One bad apple spoils the bunch.
Good point. You never want to stuff rotten apples into your brain.

You're also transhumanists?
I am. Nettie
is more of a traditionalist.
It's still very interesting to meet you. A wolf that has been taken entirely to a new level of consciousness.
A wolf
that can understand puns.
Well, enhanced intellect has always been a mixed blessing.

I'm not really a traditionalist. These two consider anyone who doesn't want to implant machines or rewrite their genetic code to be a luddite.
It's not an or. It's an and. Implants and genetic code.
If we want a standard neural interface, it simplifies things to have the brain standardized at the connection point.
It would be safer
and allow for mass production. If every neural interface has to be a custom job, the price and chance of failure goes up.
The future of transhumanism isn't some seedy back alley surgeon doing illegal modifications.
It's McDonald's. Over fifty billion served.

You'd need to be careful to ensure a neural interface only allows control in one direction.
What? No! Having the interface work both ways is a feature.
With appropriate user settings, of course.
Think of all the things you need to do for your body that could be outsourced. Dental visits. Haircuts.
All that could be done by a remote operator during your off hours.
I'd pay for a gym membership that exercises my body while I sleep.

Having someone puppet your body sounds really creepy.
But think of the advantages. Doctors and emergency workers could instantly be at a disaster scene.
That's even more creepy.
How long would it be before emergency workers could involuntarily take over bodies for the greater good?
Well, I'm
sure with appropriate legal protections and…
Al, when a genetically engineered artificial intelligence says you've taken it too far, you've taken it too far.
