Hard Labor

Harvest Moon started out with only giving the player the option to play as a male character, and one of the more important aspects of the game was finding a wife and making a dang baby. Your wife never really helped around the farm, though, and mostly hung around doing a whole lot of nothing. The newer games give you the option of being a grill, though! And you get a husband who doesn't help you out either, even when you're nine months pregnant with your farm baby.

Thank you to everyone who came out to Senshi-Con! It was a lovely time full of lovely people and I found out chicken-fried bacon was a thing.

24-Hour Comic 2013

24-Hour Comic Day was this Saturday, so, like always, I made twenty-four hourly comics between then and Sunday! I hope my sandwich-eating endeavors amuse you. I also finally gave up on the lumpy, water-damaged sketchbook I usually use, so these were significantly easier to scan and also not a weird reddish color.

BREAKING NEWS FOR BREAKING FRIENDS: I'm gonna be at New York Comic Con next weekend! Briefly! As usual, I'll be chillin' at the Levelup Studios booth (526). I'll be there on Friday and Saturday from around 1:00 to 4:00! COME ON DOWN and I will throw a book at you or something, dang!!

Moving On

The Campground public project is really a cruel joke – you're more than likely to have a full town when someone comes to visit, and it makes it all the more anguish-inducing when it's someone you'd way prefer over whichever dumb idiot you've been pushing into pitfalls for two months. I feel like there should be a Bottomless Pit public project too, so you can pick up an undesirable villager's house with a crane on such an occasion and toss it in.

Thanks to all the friends who came to see us at NYCC! Unfortunately, I caught Norrin's sick right as he was getting over it and it hit me really hard on Saturday; I could barely get out of bed and had to stay home that day. I'm sorry if I missed you then!

Tact-ical Disadvantage

Being the tactician is hard work, particularly when the units you are directing are half a mile away and around a corner. Luckily there is always EXTREME SCREAMING TO SOLVE ALL PROBLEMS

Getting Served

Sometimes I find an item and have no idea what it's supposed to be based on its name, so I rush to my house to chuck it on the floor and find out. I have been disappointed more than once.

Photo Finished

IT TURNS OUT I'm a big sap for Wind Waker and will buy a new console if they put Wind Wakery decals on it and say it's limited edition, so I now own a Wii U. It seemed like a pretty good opportunity to play Wind Waker for the fourteenth time, so I have been doing exactly that.

Tingle was probably in jail for a pretty good reason.

Recipe For Success

For a race of starving people from a dying planet, the Koppaites seem really intent on not eating the infinitely-replenishable stock of stupid-but-obedient plant-monsters that keep following them around. They can grow super-fast in pretty much any climate, take up virtually no volume, and will convert any dead matter into more seeds – Olimar even named them after food from his planet. But okay, no, go ahead, take back some apple seeds instead. I'm sure in five years when the tree bears a handful of fruit your dead planet will thank you.

The Catch

I feel like maybe if I run into the tutorial characters and the game sees I've already caught ten Pokemon in the first clump of tall grass, maybe I don't need the Pokeball-throwing tutorial. Maybe? A little?

If someone is ever singing a song and you want them to shut up and just drive you somewhere, try thrashing around silently in your seat. They will get the message.
