She is exactly what I've been talking about. Animal testing before human alterations take place. Enhanced intellect. Modifications to the body type. Extended life span. She is a fully functional example of a transwolf.

Some believe that free will is a prerequisite for a soul. The ability to choose for oneself between good and evil.

You must follow properly authorized direct orders. Do you consider yourself to have free will?

I have free will. Most of the time, I'm not under the influence of direct orders.

Does having any amount of free will meet the prerequisite, or is it an all or nothing deal?

Thousands of people are working on that very question. Given the number of philosophers involved, I do not expect to live long enough to see the answer.

Mr. Raibert. He's a high-level executive at Ecosystems unlimited. Pragmatic and a little bit scary.

Are you under the influence of his orders now?

I have no current orders from him and I can't say there's anyone else who can give me orders. I'm operating on my own.

Why no orders?

It's either trust or apathy. I hope it's the former. Given how busy he is, I rather suspect it's the latter.
