In the late 19th century, the Frisbie Pie Company was a pie maker. Clever children once noticed that if you turn over a branded pie plate and throw it - it slides through the air, and began to play with them, shouting “Frisbee!” while throwing, so as not to accidentally hit his friends in the forehead (plates were metal, it could split the skull).
