Today's comic was co-written by Brad from Blasternation. Go pay him a visit and demand him to release more Rin / Ash stories.
Now, keeping one with my analysis of Megaman downfall…
Like I said, Megaman used to be a top game, but this was 20 years ago.
Megaman gameplay is painfully basic those days, it's a relic from when controllers had 2 buttons and hardware limitations would prevent you from having more than 4 things moving on the screen.
Castlevania, another old game with similar gameplay, reinvented itself with Castlevania X by turning the game into a exploration game with a huge map, multiple collectible and beautiful graphics.
Meanwhile, Megaman gameplay is mostly about jumping. Even shooting isn't much important outside bosses because you have such a large HP pool ignoring the enemies and pushing foward is a viable strategy.
Sure, I enjoy Megaman , but I know there is nostalgia running there. The basic gameplay mechanic is basically jumping and moving. Once you master it, and you may had mastered it on the previous games, the game turn very formulaic. You don't get a new move or ability to master and use in conjunction with your old abilites.
Yes, you do get new weapons but since they cost energy (and changing weapons is cumbersome and not nedded outside bosses) you just stick with the main basic arm cannon for most of the game.
Mighty 9 looks just like old Megaman. You jump and shoot, but the nostalgia of seeing the character from your youth isn't there. The graphics aren't nothing special, polished maybe, but hardly revolutionary. I know nothing about the music but lets just say they will have a high standard to reach.
I don't blame Inafune for the bland gameplay though. He promissed Megaman, he needs to deliver Megaman and any deviation from the formula would bring lots of criticism. I blame him, however,by how different the game looks (visually) from the original. The nostalgia, for me, is not there.
Without the nostalgia to shield Mighty 9 from criticism, all is left is to judge the game as any other 2d platform and the it just doesn't look that interesting from the trailer.

I think any reasonably large online game will have hackers and cheaters now. How widespread they are depends of how popular the game is, how lucrative hacking can be and how hard the company hunt down the hackers.
Still, I don't expect any game to be 100% free of hackers and as long as they don't make my experience too awful, I try to ignore them outside of filling an automated support ticket.
However, Dota is a strange case for hacking. You see, in TF2 when I meet a hacker, it's as simple as switching servers. Sure, I «lose» the match but TF2 matches are fast and I don't really lose (or win) nothing by leaving a match, but in Dota2, even if I see the enemy flying around the map at mach 3 shooting rainbow lasers, I'll be penalized if I abandon the train wreck of match.
To start, my «rank» will go down if that was a ranked match, and if I abandon enough matches and I'll go to Dota gulag called «low priority».
I mean, it's bad enough to find a hacker, but you are just punished twice by meeting one in dota.
On the good side, hackers in dota SEEN more rare, but they may just be harder to notice unless that wallhacker aimbot sniper.

Looks like Steam has refunds now, which I think is a good thing.
Bought a game at launch and it won't load because crippled servers or game breaking bugs? Just press the refund button and spend your money elsewhere.
Hell, this maybe even make people try to released finished, functional games now!
And talking about today's comic… I ponder if people who pay money to buy a high rank account find the money worth it. Playing dota versus high skill players is brutal and not very fun if you are not prepared.

Even thou all summons which can come from Summon Companion are good, the sudden burst you can get with Pig + Skill Command + Hero power (11 damage) is many times enough to seal a game.
You know, I could almost swear there is a higher chance of you geting the damn pig.

If they put a sentry on Splatoon, I'd be forced to buy it.
Been playing Witcher 2 lately, the game start very slow and it's easy to be overwhelmed by the ammount of things they throw at you at once.. quests, plot, combat… so much stuf happening at once I only got comfortable with the game with some 5 hours into it.
But once I got used to it, I started having fun. However, even after got used to the game combat system I can't say I like it so I decided to invest in Magic as much as I can and just pew-pew my way to victory.

I was going to stalk the Steam Sale for the X-Com expansion pack, but I got it on the first day, end up not picking the chinese soldier DLC because I fear it would make the game too easy, and I don't like the idea of having a special snowflake soldier in the middle of my bunch of generic soldiers.
On my squad, you earn your strips, soldier!

I think Sony «won» E3 so far. I can't deny Sony is giving what most people want.
Meanwhile, Microsoft presented a flurry of sports and racing game sandwiched by lots of shooters of all kinds. I think even Guitar Hero left his grave and make a cameo.
On the good side, no news of motion gaming. Looks like virtual reality is the new hope and there isn't much to show of it… yet.

People shat all over Nintendo conference but I enjoyed most of the games they show.
Except the Metroid one. It's Metroid only by name really and the graphics… look, I am not a graphic whore. I can still stomach NES games to this day, but that Federation game is pushing it. Is the DS that underpowered of a machine? Can't you guys do better?

Dota 2 community may not be the most friendly bounch around, but believe me, the current Dota 2 playerbase have it easy.
If someone ragequit, feed or call peoples name, there are several ways to punish him, many automated. Bad experience with players happens, but they are rare enough to stuck out.
On Dota 1, most games were like that. It was basically part of the experience, and while there were some ways to at least diminish the problem like custom blacklists, it was far from perfect.
And as far I know, there was no punishement for being an offensive prick. On the good side, there was no voice chat so you at least won't hear him screaming on the mic.
Overall, the current Dota 2 is the best Dota 2 experience one can have, and I think lots of people will be frustated by custom games when they meet the raw, original, unbridged Dota experience where you are not punished for leaving.
