Yuki-taro – a snowplough robot, navigates using GPS and two video cameras embedded in its eyes. It collects and presses snow into bricks and leaves them behind it. Developed by a team of researchers from five Niigata-based organisations to clear snow that presents difficulties for residents, especially the elderly, for whom clearing paths and driveways is – hard labour. 2007
