“diamond weave putty” - the thermal insulating paste used in welding prevents the entire part from heating up. The paste is applied around the area to be welded and acts like a coolant due to its heat capacity and thermal conductivity. Diamond fibres are used in this case to increase the thermal conductivity and to maintain the ability to hold the shape. (Mitrill)
