Is Rabi-Ribi the best metroidvania I played? Probably not… on the same way the new Doom was not the best shooter I played.
Still, a game don't need to one-up all which come before to be worth my time. When I played Doom I was in the mood for some HUGE GUTS and RIP AND TEAR. If I was in the mood for nazis I'd play Wolfstein and if I was in the mood for lulz I'd play Duke Nukem.
Sometimes, you just want to enjoy simple things, like a bunny-girl smashing stuff with a big hammer.
