How about you, Ms.
Ambrose. Do you sing?
[!2.3]Ooowoo ooooo!
Shut up, you
dumb mutt.
Quiet!
Florence. Shuush.
I rarely sing. As a child, I was encouraged to develop my
skill in other areas.

This is 1071-CCN, requesting permission to dock.
Permission granted, 1071-CCN. What is that sound in the background?
My sqid captain and
Mr. Thurmad are singing a duet.
Mozart. “Queen of the night.”
That
was fun.
Not bad. If you had a siphon to do a proper warble, you'd have real potential.

So that's karaoke.
A modern term.
Coming together to make music and sing is as old as the human race. It was likely the first non-survival related gatherings we did.
For what is a community other than a friendly setting where you can make
a complete fool of yourself?

Docking is complete. Interlocks are met. Opening the inner cargo bay door.
Do you want your cane?
I'm going to try walking without it. I'm getting used to how rotation feels a little different from real gravity.
Though it might be best if I stay close to a wall or a handrail.
And you can always tell people you're looking for a contact lens.

It is not uncommon to have balance issues after a protracted time in reduced gravity.
It probably didn't help that I did my treadmill time on all fours on the way out here.
Try standing up slower. Some people find rotational gravity causes vertigo when their head rises or falls suddenly.
There is also a psycho-
logical component. It is easy to believe the room is spinning when you know for a fact the room is actually spinning.

Helix, did you sleep through the entire trip?
The station doesn't have any dream machines.
Well, unplug and
get ready. We're off to see the station manager.
Did we get the replacement reactor?
The reactor we were promised was junk. Which is why we're going see this distinguished and esteemed gentleman.
When you're unhappy, your swearing gets really polite.

Take us to the
level where the
station manager
is, please.
Compliance.
We're making progress.
We've limited our ability
to get lost to one floor.

That was nice of him to give us directions.
It helps that we have the look of people who shouldn't be unsupervised near vital equipment.

Hello. We would like
to see the station manager.
That would be Mr. Ames De Morel. Do you have an appointment?
No.
Mr. De Morel won't
see you without an appointment.
If I tap dance on
his desk, he'd hear sounds while I remain invisible?
Well, then I suppose he would see you, but he wouldn't like it.

If I make an appointment, when can he
see me?
Immediately. His schedule is open all afternoon.
Then what's the point of making an appointment?
It justifies
my position.
Making unnecessary appointments
is your job?
No. Justifying my position is my job. It's full time work.
